Not that it's that newsworthy, but I wanted one ever since I decided I didn't really need one and gave my old iPad 2 to my mum. She's been loving it so I could never ask for it back, and after all, I didn't really need it. I finally decided that needing wasn't everything and wanting counted as well. And since I'm now a student and get the education pricing... well, I couldn't pass the opportunity, could I?

And so my brand new iPad Pro (11 inch) arrived today, and it's shiny! I got the keyboard folio, and plan to install Scrivener so I can do writing on the go. In the meantime, any games recommendations? :D

Recommendations, hm... Mweh-heh-heh...

If you have fond memories of Master of Orion II, Starbase Orion is a fun 'inspired by' game. And if you're into the Civilization series, Civ VI is available as a native version.

Solebon is my favorite solitaire game.

Where's My Water? is a fun semi-puzzle-ish game, where the idea is to draw paths for water to run from a starting point to a designated finish... including things like condensers that freeze it, braziers that turn it into steam to waft it through impassable areas, and more.

Kairosoft has an entire series of 'sim' games - there are about 4-5 core mechanics, but Kairosoft mixes them up in various combinations with different themes to keep it relatively fresh. So you have Game Dev Story and Grand Prix Story that are team-management and development games (Grand Prix is a racing game)... Sushi Spinnery, Hot Springs Story, and World Cruise Story that are 'layout and design' games where you place amenities and decorations to please visitors (for an example of how the genre mixing works, Sushi Spinnery adds the mechanics of developing new sushi dishes and participating in cook-offs), etc. Most of them are available as 'lite' versions you can try for free.

Traditional RPGs, you have most of the Final Fantasy series, Chrono Trigger, and more.

Atari's Greatest Hits is out there if you have fond memories of either the arcade classics or the Atari 2600 games...

Pinball Arcade is a pretty good pinball simulation.

Stardew Valley was a pretty big craze a year or so; things have quieted down some, but it's still fun. You're a cubicle slave for a thinly-disguised WalMart who leaves it all to become a farmer; you can go into the crops or barnyard animals, fishing, exploring local mines as an adventurer... there's a fair amount of depth.

1000 Miles is a version of the classic Mille Bornes card game; Crazy 8s is a pretty good version of that card game.

AIrAttack 2 is a top-view scrolling shooter with WWII planes.

And if you're feeling morbid, Plague Inc. is a variation of the Pandemic formula, where you try to develop a disease to wipe out the world's population.
